Janine Chamberlin joined LinkedIn's European business as employee #13 in 2008 as the company celebrated reaching 25 million members. Just over a decade later, having been instrumental to LinkedIn's growth globally - which today is over three-quarters of a billion members strong - she has recently been appointed UK Country Manager and Head of Enterprise Sales globally, leading a dedicated workforce of 330 people in her non-native language.
Originally from the Netherlands, Janine grew up being culturally aware of 'Tall Poppy Syndrome', which has transformed her into an empathetic and compassionate leader that embodies 'we' over 'me'. Those prized qualities which are the hallmark of modern leadership have been especially felt by colleagues and customers during the toughest year many people and businesses have experienced due to COVID-19.
Janine ensured the health and wellbeing of her team came first during this anxiety-inducing time by setting people up for success working from home, ensuring working parents were supported through paid time off, and implementing flexible hours, no meeting days, virtual team drinks and company shutdowns.
For customers, Janine led her team in asking what LinkedIn could do to help. With pressure on organisations on the frontlines of the nation's COVID-19 response efforts, her team supported the likes of the NHS with free resources to quickly recruit critical healthcare staff, and virtual tools to help companies digitally transform.
Janine is front and centre in leading LinkedIn's recruitment of diverse talent, and advising businesses on how to improve workforce gender diversity and implement skills-based hiring.
